Respect
Aikido teaches respect through bowing, cooperative practice, and care for training partners. It builds humility, discipline, and appreciation for others—on and off the mat.

Self defence
Aikido teaches self-defence by redirecting an attacker’s energy, helping students stay calm, balanced, and in control without using brute force.

Personal growth
Aikido promotes personal growth by building confidence, focus, and resilience. Through disciplined practice, students learn to stay centered, face challenges calmly, and grow both mentally and physically.

Fitness
Aikido improves fitness by developing strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination through dynamic movements and consistent practice. It offers a full-body workout that enhances overall health while building endurance and agility.

Shudokan Aikido
Albury Aikido Shudokan is a part of the Shudokan family of Joe Thambu Shihan. It brings authentic, high-quality Aikido training to the Albury region as part of a global network.

Kids and Adults classes
Our classes caters for ages 6-up. A dedicated junior syllubus teaches younger students the fundamentals, and helps them transition into adults classes smoothly.

Albury Aikido Shudokan – Winter Newsletter
As we finally see the winter chill slowly start to leave Albury, it has been inspiring to see that the cold has not discouraged our students from training with dedication and spirit. Despite brisk evenings, our members continue to show up with enthusiasm, proving that commitment and camaraderie on the mats can overcome even the coldest weather, with a little help from our heater of course.
A special congratulations goes to our junior class, who have shown outstanding determination and focus in preparing for their grading. Their hard work, discipline, and positive attitude are a true reflection of the values we hold at Albury Aikido Shudokan. We are proud of the effort each student has put into their training, and we look forward to seeing their progress and achievements as they continue their martial arts journey.
We are also delighted to extend a warm welcome to all new members who have recently joined our club. It is wonderful to see so many fresh faces bringing energy to our training sessions, and the mats filled with both new and experienced students training together. We hope our new members enjoy the journey ahead, and we encourage them to aim for their first coloured belt grading later this year – an exciting milestone to look forward to.
